It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Professor Monika Invantysynova.
We first learned of Monika and her husband Jaroslav as a result of their seminal text on fluid power machinery, which has become a standard reference for our machine designers.
Following the book, she led the Maha Fluid Power Centre at Purdue University since 2004 which, under her leadership, became one of the world’s foremost centres of fluid power research.
Monika tirelessly promoted the benefits of fluid power to many industries and applications, forging partnerships and generally making things happen around her. She was quite fearless and very well respected.
Beyond this overt toughness was a real humanity too, and this was evident in the devotion that her research group had for her, as can be read here.
The fluid power community has lost one of its most influential and important characters. She will be missed
