Outstanding performance at German event

Artemis is proud to be a sponsor of the University of Strathclyde Motorsport team.

Every year the team builds a new race car and competes in the UK Formula Student competition (which is organised by the IMechE), and also in Formula Student Germany.

Something about spending enormous amounts of time working together on a real project seems to help to produce terrific engineers. They get really good at communicating so that they can go out and raise funds and sponsors amongst people like us and we’ve been lucky enough to have a few members of the team work at Artemis during vacations.

The photo at the top shows this year’s car at speed at the German event in August. With 115 teams from 26 countries competing, we were delighted to hear that they ended up 15th in the overall scoring for the combustion event and first amongst the UK teams.

This is the first year that the team took up the challenge of designing and manufacturing an aerodynamic package. They put a massive effort into this and, judging by the German results, their efforts have really paid off.

It will be most interesting to see how the car design develops over the next few years.

Artemis looks forward to continuing involvement with Strathclyde Motorsport and we wish every success to the new 2014/15 team.
