Multiple services from one machineDigital Displacement® Pumps (DDP) and Pump/Motors (DDPM) have one or more cylinders dedicated to each service. The microprocessor controls each cylinder completely independently so that, in most instances, flow regulating valves are not required and the pump/motor can be connected directly to the actuators. Discarding the external valves reduces overall complexity and hence system cost. Modular construction that allows a multiplicity of independent services to be supplied by a single compact machine without recourse to either flow divider valves or priority systems.
Motion ControlMicroprocessor control allows programmable acceleration profiles and complex control capabilities, and the DD Pumps and Pump/Motors themselves are also 'digital', providing flow in discrete quanta. They have none of the hysterisis, lag or sensitivity to fluid properties experienced with conventional 'analogue' displacement controls and have absolute zero flow at idle. These properties allow Digital Displacement® machines to achieve open-loop position control of cylinders and motors. The video below demonstrates how a hydraulic ram can be precisely positioned with programmable motion profiles without the need for feedback sensors.
