For more than a decade Artemis Intelligent Power has been developing Digital Displacement® hydraulics, a unique patented technology with applications as diverse as renewable energy, rail and off-road machinery.
Artemis has a core technology development team covering the major disciplines of electronics, software, simulation, and mechanics. We believe that our in-house ability to design and develop all aspects of our technology is the key to rapid development. We use the principles of model-based design to simulate new systems before we build them, but also use practical prototyping methods to try new ideas.
With a 50-strong team based in a busy and expanding 3000m2 research and manufacturing facility near Edinburgh, the firm is working closely with a major Tier 1 manufacturer of hydraulic components, and multiple OEMs of construction and material handling equipment, on collaborative projects to bring their technology to market.
The company has a strong R&D function including development and test rigs from 250kW to 4MW, alongside an independent manufacturing group certified to ISO9001 for the production of components for Artemis Digital Displacement® pumps and motors.
Artemis is qualified as a supplier to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for the supply of valves and control systems for their 7MW wind turbine project.
In 2015 Artemis won the Royal Academy of Engineering’s MacRobert Award, in the form of a gold medal and a £50,000 prize. The MacRobert Award, first presented in 1969, ‘identifies outstanding innovation with proven commercial success and tangible social benefit’.
