IP Researcher and Patent Engineer/Scientist

Artemis Intelligent Power Ltd. is a hi-tech engineering company based in Edinburgh.

Artemis combines hydraulics, mechanics, electromagnetics, electronics and embedded software to create a new generation of ultra-efficient Digital Displacement® machines and systems. These have applications in industries including renewable energy, automotive, off-road vehicles and industrial applications.

IP Researcher and Patent Engineer/Scientist
This new role would suit a scientist or engineer with a strong post-graduate record and an interest in Intellectual Property in a dynamic commercial environment where IP forms the backbone of the business.

Artemis has a large and expanding portfolio of Patents and Patent Applications covering inventions across mechanical, hydraulic, electronic and control domains. The work will involve documenting new inventions, searching and analysing prior art (i.e. previous inventions), helping draft Patent specifications and maintaining competitive vigilance in the technical field. Further responsibilities in technical writing may evolve over time.
A very high standard of written English is absolutely required. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate technical insight, analytical ability, thoroughness and attention to detail, probably through high quality postgraduate study in the physical sciences or engineering. Skills in technical artwork, Patent drafting and prior art searching are desirable, but not necessary as the role is an excellent opportunity to develop them under the guidance of our experienced team. Good German, Japanese, Chinese and/or French language skills are desirable but not necessary.
The successful candidate will work in a challenging environment within a dedicated and experienced team.
